What are Shelby Tubes?

A Shelby Tube is a hollow machined tube, primarily made from stainless steel, which is utilised for the extraction of an uninterrupted underground soil or clay sample for testing purposes. The tube may also be used as a carrier to transport the sample. A Shelby Tube can be supplied with a chamfered edge, which may assist in the penetration of soil to obtain a sample.

Stainless steel is used for Shelby Tubes due to is corrosion resistance, weldability, sterile properties, aesthetic appeal and strength.

Size

Supplied in 3 or 6m lengths however can be cut as per customer specification.
304 and 316 tubes can be supplied.

Shelby Tubes are machines on site and can be packaged in LDPE heat shrink wrap for UV protection.
These can be retained in wooden bearers and straps for transportation protection.
