EPDM

What is EPDM?

EPDM rubber, also known as ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber, is a commonly used synthetic elastomer. EPDM can be manufactured to create custom moulded or extruded componentry as per specification. AE also supplies cured EPDM in either rod, sheet, tube or as o-ring cord.

What are the benefits of EPDM?

EPDM is a commonly used elastomer for fabricated parts due its cost effectiveness and lifespan. EPDM is known for its UV resistance and chemical resistance, making it suitable for outdoor applications. It can maintain stability in high and low temperatures, ranging from -40°C to 125°C and is unaffected by water or steam. EPDM is also a food grade elastomer.

EPDM has poor resistance to oil including petroleum and solvents and is therefore not recommended for those applications.

What does Armstrong Energy manufacture from EPDM?

  • Seals

  • Gaskets

  • Diaphragms

  • Grommets

  • Standard o-rings

  • Moulded o-rings

  • Moulded and extruded componentry

  • Electrical insulating componentry

Where is EPDM used?

EPDM is known for its versatility and therefore can be used across a variety of industries. These include but not limited to power generation, mining, oil and gas, food and beverage, rail, agriculture, and construction.
